We are an islandwide full-service commercial brokerage with over 50 years experience offering insurance solutions to commercial clients in a wide variety of industries. Founded in 1963, Billy Craig remains one of the few truly independent brokers in Jamaica, not linked to any insurance company or financial institution. This allows us to provide conflict-free, needs-driven advice to our local and international customers.

 

Our clients are considered family, and many have been with us since the company’s inception. As trailblazers in the local insurance industry, we established our Employee Benefits Department in 1998 and in 2009 we formed a valuable partnership with AON, one of the world’s largest international insurance brokers. As one of Jamaica’s leading insurance brokers and Western Jamaica’s number one brokerage firm, we are a powerhouse of experience and specialized expertise that enables us to provide customized and comprehensive coverage.

Billy Craig Insurance Brokers is headed by William Craig, the son of founder, Billy Craig. He proudly leads a team of highly experienced and committed insurance professionals, some of whom have been with the company for over 25 years. Our wealth of experience and extensive track record have kept us at the fore of the Jamaican insurance industry for decades as one of the island’s leading commercial brokers.

As the second generation CEO of Billy Craig Insurance Brokers, William Craig has adopted his father’s values of hard work and impeccable customer service. William is the company’s strategic lead, and ensures his team consistently provides excellent service and achieves its key performance indicators. William has been with Billy Craig for some 25 years, and credits his late father’s tried and true advice, alongside years of industry experience, as cornerstones of his ability to continue the path of Billy Craig’s growth. William keenly remembers his father, William Craig Snr., the founder of Billy Craig, telling him, “Son, work hard and ensure your clients are always satisfied”. Those words are deeply ingrained in every aspect of William’s work. Described as a passionate leader, he prides himself on his ability to formulate innovative solutions for his clients. He uses a similar creative approach to ensure his team is fully equipped with above standard resources to best serve their clients. For William, a personalised approach to client satisfaction is the most vital component of the Billy Craig customer experience. He believes that Billy Craig’s most significant achievement is its customers, some of whom have been on board since the company’s inception, over 50 years ago. This, he says, speaks to the magnitude of effectiveness that is unique to the Billy Craig way.

Employee Benefits Manager, Loretta Anderson, has been with Billy Craig for over 8 years. Within her role she has overseen the significant growth of the Employees Benefit portfolio, resulting in an overall expansion of the department and an increase in value-added benefits for Billy Craig clients. Under Loretta’s guidance, Billy Craig now facilitates its clients with wellness fairs, employee education sessions, on site administration and the Billy Craig Blue Card. With the Billy Craig Blue Card under her remit, Loretta is responsible for providing enhanced value options for clients’ healthcare needs. Loretta’s leadership has helped to position the Employee Benefits Department at the top of its class, and the department has won numerous business awards from industry partners over the past several years. Described as quiet, yet determined, Loretta is always in pursuit of the department’s next big goal. Her people-oriented style of serving clients and her willingness to be an innovator, make her a highly appreciated member of the team. Loretta holds an MBA with a concentration in International Business Management and is a Chartered Life Underwriter. Her accolades, achievements and tenacity have made Loretta a key player in Billy Craig’s sustained success.

Senior Risk Manager

Senior Risk Manager, Karlene Maye, is charged with maintaing and growing a healthy portfolio for Billy Craig’s operations in Western Jamaica. Financial Services Commission (FSC) certified as a salesman for property, motor, liability, marine and pecuniary insurances, Karlene is currently pursuing certification as a Chartered Insurance Professional with the Insurance Institute of Canada. Her pursuit of professional designations enhances her many years of practical experience. However, Karlene’s first love is customer service. In her role, she focuses on fostering solid client relationships that help to maintain Billy Craig’s high retention rate. She consistently exceeds her targets for customer satisfaction, and is described by her colleagues as kind and outgoing. Her infectious personality has been a magnet for clients throughout her 25 year history at Billy Craig. Even after so many years, Karlene maintains a fresh excitement in her ability to provide risk transfer solutions through diverse markets. She believes relationships are the most important element of both work and life, and her work at Billy Craig reflects the high value she places on connecting with others.

Managing Director

Ian Miller has been the Managing Director at Billy Craig for more than 25 years. He has over 40 years experience in the insurance industry, including international experience with Eagle Star Insurance Company (UK). Having served as a senior manager for Billy Craig under both its founder, Billy Craig, and his son, William Craig junior, Ian has a keen sense of the heart of the company. This understanding of Billy Craig’s foundation and the vision for the company’s legacy, coupled with his broad depth of industry experience, make Ian an ideal leader on Billy Craig’s team. A man of high standards and professionalism, Ian is often affectionately referred to as the encyclopaedia of the office. Ian seeks to ensure Billy Craig is an inspiring and invigorating place to work, while holding the team to the highest industry standards. He has sound technical skills in all areas of insurance and handles some of Billy Craig’s largest accounts. The company benefits from his wealth of experience in broking and underwriting. Ian is one of few insurance professionals in Jamaica who are Fellows of the Chartered Insurance Institutes of London. He also holds the role of Billy Craig’s Chief Operations Officer. His technical and leadership skills have helped to make Billy Craig Insurance Brokers the broker of choice amongst Jamaica’s corporate clientele.

Human Resource and Compliance Manager, Marilyn Wong, revels in the excitement of nurturing employee growth at Billy Craig. Investing in their training and development, the company is committed to employee satisfaction at all levels. She ensures that employees are placed in the roles most suited to them and that they receive the right training, in order to succeed. She, thereby furthers the company’s overall productivity and ability to meet its objectives. Her warm personality and excellent listening skills make Marilyn the ideal person to put team members at ease and bring out the best in them. Her accreditations Business Administration, Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour back up her more than a decade of experience with Billy Craig. With full responsibility for Billy Craig’s Anti-Money Laundering Programme, Marilyn sees to it that the company is always compliant with established standards and procedures. Her role is a critical one in realizing Billy Craig’s vision “To Be the Broker of Choice.” By ensuring each of the company’s team members get the support they need, she helps them deliver impeccable service and sustain a positive company bottom-line. Marilyn gets most excited when she sees how employees blossom and grow through the company’s ongoing training and development programme.

After a successful 7-year journey at Billy Craig, Andrene was promoted from Administrative Assistant to the CEO to the role of Relationship Manager, in which she is responsible for maintaining continuous engagement between the company and key corporate accounts. On a daily basis, Andrene interfaces between management, clients and colleagues. She takes great pride in her ability to meet the needs of a diverse set of individuals who rely on her for top-notch administrative, portfolio and risk management support.
For Andrene, Billy Craig is more than a company, it is a family. Billy Craig’s commitment to developing people and maintaining an open door policy has helped to keep her inspired and motivated towards advancing her education and her career. She holds salesman certificates from the Insurance College of Jamaica in all the major classes of insurance, including Pecuniary Loss and Marine, and is currently enrolled in the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) programme at the Insurance Institute in Canada. She takes every opportunity to become a well-rounded professional, and is excited to be part of a team that provides the motivation and training to empower her in her career growth.

As the Head of Broking Operations, Pete Walker plays a key role on Billy Craig’s executive management team. While he is involved in all aspects of the business, Pete’s primary focus is leading both the sales and operations teams to ensure the highest level of service. He also sees to it that all customer needs are matched with the products that will provide the best solutions for their needs. One of his greatest achievements at Billy Craig is the spearheading of the development and launch of the company’s first web portal. The portal’s aim is to enable a heightened customer experience through more efficient and speedy access to the information and services clients need to manage their policies and claims. It is a game-changer for the Jamaican market. Pete employs his strong industry knowledge, sharp service management skills and technology savvy in the creation of surefire solutions to improve customer service and team efficiencies. He is always ready to take on any opportunity to improve processes and step up insurance standards. He carries with him nearly two decades of experience in the insurance industry, and has an advanced diploma in insurance from the Chartered Institute of Insurance, London.

Ottis Plummer’s hard work and dedication keeps the company connected to its partners and customers. As Manager of Business Management Systems, Ottis’ strong analytical skills and calm demeanour help him troubleshoot complex technical challenges with efficiency and patience. In his 13 years with the company, Ottis has led the digital transformation that has kept Billy Craig at pace with global standards. He and his team are responsible for the development of the company’s inhouse Management Information System and its integration with leading industry software. The speed of change in technology and innovation is no deterrent for Ottis. In fact, it excites and motivates him to identify new opportunities for modifying business processes and systems to improve efficiencies and client service delivery. Ottis is a Microsoft Certified Professional. His aptitude and credentials in software development and design ensure he will continue to play a lead role in enabling the company’s ability to innovate and progress into the future.

Pauline has over twenty five (25) years experience in the Insurance Industry, having worked in the Employee Benefits Department of a leading Life Insurance Company, and Claims Department at two major Insurance Brokers. She holds a designation of Chartered Insurer from the Chartered Insurance Institute in London (ACII), Fellow of The Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation, and is a Certified Customer Service Trainer.

Andrew leads a team of risk managers, ensuring that their best competencies and expertise are delivered for optimum client satisfaction. In order to maintain the highest standards within his team, Andrew continuously expands their skills and perspectives through coaching, mentoring, training, establishing targets and monitoring performance. He encourages his team to be innovative in lead generation and conversion with an eye to always outperforming the competition. Working closely with underwriters, her astute knowledge of clients’ challenges is the foundation of her ability to effectively negotiate terms and conditions that consistently fulfill their needs. Risk Manager, Sheree McIntosh, has 15 years experience in the insurance industry. Many of these years have been with Billy Craig. She is licensed by the Financial Services Commission to sell both health and life insurances. In her current role, she takes responsibility for market development, building solid client relationships and exceeding their expectations. Sheree is a keen negotiator who enthusiastically represents clients’ interests for insurance benefits and claims. As per the Billy Craig way, Sheree likes to win for her clients. She is most proud of her role in developing the Business Processing Industry Association of Jamaica (BPIAJ) and building specialized plans for BPO clients.
